About: Cobbs, who grew up in Detroit and served in the Navy, previously served as the Global Vice President for Xerox and has also worked in other business leadership roles in executive development and software companies.
Now retired, Cobbs said he’s found the political environment in Michigan “reprehensible.”
“We are no longer operating with the idea that people are the holders of political power,” he said. His frustration inspired him to run for political office for the first time.
As he prepares to travel the state and meet with potential voters, Cobbs said he’s focusing on four main platforms: developing a comprehensive “infrastructure refresh” program; improving the quality and availability of K-12 education; creating tax parity; and taking better care of the state’s clean water supply.
“I firmly believe that we could be one of the greatest states in the union if we could focus on the right things,” he said. “I have made a career out of dealing tough jobs that nobody else wanted to do and being successful at it.”
